The 29-year-old striker, who has played at Championship level for the likes of Derby County and Peterborough United, finds himself in the fourth tier after completing a January transfer to SToK Racecourse. He made that move when severing ties with League One side Fleetwood Town.

Quizzed on how he ended up in North Wales, Marriott has said: "I am really delighted to be here. I heard about the interest for the last week or so and it was something I really wanted to pursue. It was a big decision for me and my family. We spoke in great length about it and it was something that we decided together that we wanted to do, it was the right thing for us all. Fleetwood were great throughout the process and I appreciate them for doing that.”
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Marriott is not the first to have taken a step backwards in order to move forwards alongside Reynolds and McElhenney at Wrexham – with the likes of Paul Mullin and Elliot Lee doing likewise – and added on his reasons for joining the Red Dragons: “We spoke about dropping down a division but when you look at the club and the package and everything, it seemed like a great move. It is great to see what is going on at the club, that was not ignored, and I am delighted to be a part of it. I am here to do my best to help the team and the club on and off the pitch, that is all I can do.”
