Although these injuries severely limited his playing time at the club level, Adams made a notable impact when he represented the USMNT in the CONCACAF Nations League in March. He made two appearances and scored a stunning goal in a 2-0 victory over Mexico in the final which highlighted his importance to the team, reinforcing his role as an instrumental player of the American midfield.

USMNT interim head coach B.J. Callaghan expressed optimism about Adams' condition and told reporters: "I can just tell you that [Adams] is in great spirits.
