Having only recently proclaimed that he has a “certain status” within the team, it appears things have fallen by the wayside very quickly for Matteo Guendouzi.
The Frenchman was a notable absentee from the squad that won 4-0 against Newcastle on Sunday afternoon in the Premier League, and The Telegraph have now revealed the reasons behind his omission.
The report claims the midfielder had a “heated row with Mikel Arteta and members of his coaching staff during the club’s winter training camp in Dubai”.

It’s further suggested that “some of the club’s players have been impressed and taken aback by Arteta’s demanding approach”.
After hearing about the update on Guendouzi, Arsenal fans took to Twitter to voice their thoughts on the situation, with a couple of fans saying that the news doesn’t surprise them at all.
A few Gunners fans felt that bringing him “back down to Earth” should help him in the long-run.
One fan meanwhile suggested that they could see this row coming, claiming that Guendouzi “loved (Unai) Emery too much”.
Another supporter drew comparisons with former Gunner, Robin van Persie, but backed him to “come around eventually”.
Can Guendouzi get himself back into the good books of Arteta?
At only 20, there are bound to be issues of ill-discipline and behaviour problems. After all, he’s still relatively inexperienced at the top level, and is yet to fully mature as a footballer.

Arteta’s kick up the backside could be exactly what he needs to remind himself about how he needs to act, and what the consequences are if he doesn’t. The ball is now in the midfielder’s court to see how he responds to this setback.
Meanwhile, Arsenal fans have hailed this man’s display against Newcastle.
